#729: The Church of Christ, in Every Age
Jan. 26th, 2021 10:44 pmThe first verse makes it seem like it's going to be some kind of Reformation or "community in Christ" type thing, but then the next verse moves on to talking about the "victims of injustice" near or far who "never live before they die." I feel like that last part aged poorly. Like, people who are suffering or starving don't always have the opportunity to flourish in creative or vocational endeavors, because of the whole hierarchy of needs stuff. But do we say they're not "really" living? I would think these days there are many people who would take the opposite tack, like "suffering is Really being Alive, the rich people or even the institutional church are dead inside and cannot comprehend Authentic Life." (Unless it's about abortion or something, but that seems even iffier then and now!)
