#471: Let Us Break Bread Together

Lyrics are pretty straightforward (and repetitive)--we worship together by eating bread and drinking wine at Communion, and by praising God together. Sounds good. The part that stands out for me is "with my face to the rising sun"--was there a significance to the direction of prayers? (In some parts of early Christianity facing east was important, though more so in Islam and Judaism.) Is it a "follow the drinking gourd" navigational thing? I wouldn't think so, but who knows.
