How's the Shannon density?
Somewhat low--the last line is repeated every verse.
Is that a function of this particular tune?
Apparently so, this tune is used for three other hymns and they all have the last line repeat. There are a lot more hymns that would fit the same syllable pattern if you just didn't do that (I'll probably get to this eventually...?), so this feels like a "and then we just sing the last line again, with slightly different notes!" I'm sure it's possible to use short lines like these and write something with a denser rhyme scheme, but I'm also not volunteering.
