The lyricist for the third verse is "Godfrey Thring," which is a pretty decent name if only because of all the consonants. Is that a...some...Thing? No, it's some Thring.

The tune is named "Sicilian Mariners;" it was originally used for an unrelated Latin hymn to the Virgin Mary, which was sung by sailors in Sicily because one of Mary's personifications is as the patron of the sea. In Catholicism Mary gets to be the patron of a lot of things.
