#647: Glorious Things of You Are Spoken
Jan. 25th, 2020 10:24 pmCoincidentally, we jump ahead to another song about Zion (which is used sometimes literally, sometimes metaphorically in the Hebrew Bible to refer to a literal mountain/God's earthly city/God's people; in a Christian context, it stands for the heavenly city and/or the church on Earth more often). It's not really clear why this one is in the "Community" section; like, that categorization primes me to interpret it as about the church as all the people here on Earth, but then it's not really clear what the rest of the metaphors are referring to. (The cloud and fire is a reference to Exodus, but in this context, just "God is always near.")
Am/name is a stretch of a masculine rhyme, while assuage/age is one for the thesaurus. The feminine ones are surprisingly good considering: I like the slant of banner/manna!
